Privacy Policy

Effective: Apr 29, 2026 Last updated: Apr 29, 2026

Short version: Odoza collects only what it needs to run the app and improve it. We do not sell your data. Your OBD2 vehicle data is used to power your diagnostics and, in anonymised form, to improve our models. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

1. Who we are

Odoza ("we", "our", "us") is an OBD2 diagnostics and vehicle intelligence platform built for Indian Skoda, Volkswagen, and Audi owners. Our app reads data from your car's ECU via an OBD2 dongle and presents it in plain English.

For privacy-related queries, contact us at kalpitrathore@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

Data you provide directly

  • Name and email address — when you join the waitlist or create an account.
  • Vehicle information — make, model, year, and variant you enter in the app.
  • Feedback and support messages — if you contact us via email or in-app.

Data collected automatically through the app

  • OBD2 / ECU data — parameters your car broadcasts via the OBD2 port, including engine load, RPM, coolant temperature, fuel trims, intake air temperature, vehicle speed, and fault codes. This data is read from your vehicle and processed on your device and our servers.
  • Trip data — start/end time, duration, distance, and route (GPS coordinates, if you grant location permission).
  • Device information — device model, operating system version, and app version, used for debugging and compatibility.
  • Usage analytics — which features you use, how often, and how long. Collected via Microsoft Clarity in anonymised, aggregated form.

Data we do NOT collect

  • Payment or financial information (we do not currently process payments).
  • Contacts, photos, or any data unrelated to vehicle diagnostics.
  • Persistent location data when the app is not in use.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide the service — reading, analysing, and displaying your OBD2 data in the app.
  • To improve our models — anonymised and aggregated vehicle data helps us build better fault code interpretation, fuel efficiency baselines, and predictive diagnostics across the VAG vehicle fleet in India.
  • To communicate with you — waitlist updates, product announcements, and support responses. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
  • To debug and improve the app — crash logs and usage analytics help us identify and fix issues.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — third-party tools that help us operate (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics). These providers are contractually bound to process data only on our behalf.
  • Legal obligation — if required by law, court order, or government authority.
  • Business transfer — in the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may transfer to the new entity under equivalent privacy protections.

Aggregated, anonymised vehicle statistics (e.g., "average summer KMPL across Slavia 1.0 TSI owners in Pune") may be used in published research or blog posts. This data cannot be traced back to any individual.

5. Data retention

  • Account data — retained for as long as your account is active, plus 90 days after deletion.
  • OBD2 trip data — retained for up to 24 months to power historical comparisons in the app. You can delete individual trips or all trip history at any time from the app.
  • Anonymised aggregated data — retained indefinitely for research and model improvement. This cannot be re-identified.
  • Waitlist data — email and name retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Portability — receive your OBD2 trip data in a machine-readable format (CSV/JSON).
  • Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any email we send.

To exercise any of these rights, email kalpitrathore@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies and tracking

Our website uses Microsoft Clarity for session analytics — this includes heatmaps and anonymised session recordings to understand how visitors use the site. No personally identifiable information is captured by Clarity.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels from third-party ad networks.

8. Children's privacy

Odoza is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data — encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you promptly in the event of a breach affecting your data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will notify waitlist and app users via email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
